You might be able to buff out the scratch with a soft cloth resembling a tee shirt or a tub towel. Rub in small circles.
I've fixed several audio CDs that skipped or PC CDs that wouldn't read this approach.
I suppose there's a pretty good fate of just doing more pull, but this has worked for me on several occaisions.
